Trauma-Informed Mental Health Evaluations for Immigration Proceedings
I provide independent, trauma-informed mental health evaluations for immigration cases, informed not only by my clinical training but also by my lived experience as a first-generation daughter of immigrants. I understand the emotional weight of migration, family separation, and prolonged uncertainty, and I approach each evaluation with care, cultural humility, and respect for the complexity of each personal story.
Evaluations are completed by Julia Lotin, LICSW, a licensed clinical social worker in Massachusetts with experience working with immigrant communities, first-generation families, and survivors of trauma.
What Is an Immigration Mental Health Evaluation?
An immigration mental health evaluation is a comprehensive psychological assessment used to document the emotional, psychological, and functional impact of an individual’s experiences for immigration proceedings.
The evaluation results in a written psychological report that may be submitted as supporting documentation in an immigration case. Reports are based on:
-
Clinical interviews
-
Trauma-informed assessment tools (when appropriate)
-
Review of available records (if provided)
-
Professional clinical judgment
These evaluations provide an independent clinical opinion and are not therapy.
Please note: Mental health evaluations do not guarantee approval of any immigration application. Immigration decisions are made solely by USCIS, immigration judges, or other legal authorities.
