Motherhood is one of the most transformative journeys a person can experience, but it can also feel isolating, overwhelming, and even heartbreaking at times. As a mom of two, I’ve walked this path myself. My own journey into motherhood was filled with unexpected challenges, from finding balance to adjusting to my new identity as a mom. These experiences opened my eyes to the gaps in maternal mental health support and fueled my passion for helping other moms.
In my therapy practice, I strive to create the space I wish I had—one where moms feel seen, heard, and supported at every stage of their journey.
Journey to Self Services was born from my own experiences navigating the complexities of postpartum identity and beyond. As I grew in my career as a perinatal therapist, it became clear that after the six-week postpartum check-up, many moms were left without adequate support. This realization became a driving force behind my work.
Common Struggles Moms Face
Anxiety: Constantly worrying about whether you’re doing enough for your child or making the "right" decisions.
Quick Tip: Practice grounding techniques like focusing on your breath or naming five things you can see, hear, and touch around you.
Overstimulation: Feeling overwhelmed by the noise, touch, and chaos of daily life with kids.
Quick Tip: Take five minutes to step into a quiet room, close your eyes, and decompress with soothing sounds or silence.
Perinatal Mood Challenges: Experiencing sadness, irritability, or a sense of disconnect during pregnancy or postpartum.
Quick Tip: Reach out to a trusted friend or professional to talk openly about how you’re feeling. You don’t have to go through this alone.
These struggles are more common than you might think. Many moms are silently suffering, trying to hold everything together for their children and partners, without realizing that the mental load of “holding it together” often leads to burnout and more serious mental health challenges.
At Journey to Self Services, I provide a safe space where you can navigate these complexities without feeling alone. As a mom who understands, I’m here to support you in your journey to wellness and balance.
